Dr. Titanji Beatrice, a lecturer at the University of Buea, on Friday 18 October 2019, launched a book on human trafficking titled, CURBING THE TIDE OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SLAVERY. The rich-in-content publication navigates her research, observations and opinions on the ungodly practice which has to do with trading in human beings.
Dr. Titanji is a concerned mother and her long experience in leadership and activism against human trafficking were inspirations that made it possible for her to put up the 116-page publication.
Going through the preface of the book, the author explains the book is written for all classes of people everywhere. She believes the book is a wake-up call for parents, law enforcement officers, social workers and equally victims who have a taste of the consequences.
In the forward of the book done by Justice Prudence Galega, she indicates that CURBING THE TIDE OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SLAVERY brings out heart-breaking realities of human trafficking and slavery and equally its threat to development.
During the launching ceremony which was massively attended, the author made an appeal to people to invest efforts at individual levels to combat human trafficking.
“The book is proposing that we should all advocate against human trafficking and slavery. The book talks about what human trafficking is and how we can help curb it by our actions”, said Dr. Beatrice Titanji.
She said the book has ten chapters containing what human trafficking is, how to identify traffickers and how to fight it. Present in the book are equally stories of survivors who have been to Kuwait and could share their experiences as victims.
The participants who were there to salute the efforts of the author were excited and lauded her interest in the topic. This was seen though their smiles as the author autographed the copies they bought.
It is worth mentioning that Prof PK Titanji, Bar. Duga Titanji and other reputable figures were present to ensure the author was celebrated and supported.
It should be known that Dr. Beatrice Titanji is wife to the renowned Cameroon’s researcher, Prof Vincent PK Titanji and a mother of four.
